우리의 이야기 (Our Story)

Q. 본인을 소개해주세요.

A. 안녕하세요. 저는 서울대학교 경영대학원에서 석사 과정을 밟고 있는 Nguyen Phuong Linh(응웬푸엉린)입니다. [Korea Discovery Club] 리더로 활동하고 있습니다.

CMK 클럽 & 캠퍼스의 호스트로 지원하게 된 이유는, 재단 안에 많은 외국인 학생들이 있지만 정작 ‘한국의 진짜 일상’을 경험할 기회는 많지 않다고 느꼈기 때문입니다. 한국에서 6년 동안 생활한 외국인 선배로서, 드라마 속 장면이 아닌 현실 속 한국의 모습과 경험을 나누고 싶었습니다.

Hello, my name is Nguyen Phuong Linh. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Graduate School of Business at Seoul National University, and I serve as the leader of the Korea Discovery Club.

I applied to become a host for CMK Club & Campus because, although there are many international students within the foundation, I felt there were limited opportunities to experience the real daily life in Korea. Having lived in Korea for six years, I wanted to share everyday moments and cultural experiences that go beyond what we usually see in Korean dramas, from the perspective of a foreign senior who has truly lived here.

Q. Korea Discovery Club 모임을 소개해주세요.

A. 저희는 한국의 색이 짙은 장소를 선택했지만, 조금 더 트렌디하고 MZ 세대의 시선으로 바라보는 것을 목표로 운영을 하고 있어요. 전통시장 투어, 찜질방 체험, 기념품 만들기 워크숍 등 일상의 장면을 함께 경험하며, 한국 생활이 처음인 새내기 글로벌 장학생들이 문화적 차이를 자연스럽게 이해하고 빠르게 적응할 수 있도록 돕고 있죠.

드라마 속 한국이 아닌 진짜 한국을 경험하다

Q. 본인을 소개해주세요.

A. 저는 동아대학교에 재학 중인 박예림입니다. CMK 캠퍼스의 [부산 미식] 모임에 참여하고 있습니다. 새로운 경험을 좋아하는 편이지만, 일상에서는 비슷한 배경의 사람들과만 어울리다 보니 제 시야가 다소 제한되어 있다는 느낌을 받곤 했습니다.

그러던 중 현대차 정몽구 재단의 클럽 & 캠퍼스 프로그램을 알게 되었고, 그중에서도 [부산 미식]이라는 주제가 특히 눈에 들어왔습니다. 미식에 대한 전문적인 지식은 없었지만, 음식을 통해 새로운 관점과 취향을 발견할 수 있지 않을까 하는 기대감으로 참여하게 되었습니다.

My name is Yerim Park, and I am a student at Dong-A University. I participate in the CMK Club & Campus program as a member of the Busan Gourmet group.

While I enjoy new experiences, I realized that my daily interactions were mostly limited to people with similar backgrounds, which made my perspective feel somewhat narrow. When I learned about the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-koo Foundation’s Club & Campus program, the theme “Busan Gourmet” immediately caught my attention. Although I did not have expert knowledge of gastronomy, I joined with the hope of discovering new perspectives and tastes through food.

Q. 클럽 캠퍼스 활동을 소개해주세요.

부산 미식 모임은 단순히 음식을 먹는 것을 넘어, 미식을 매개로 각자의 관점과 취향을 나누는 경험 중심의 모임입니다. 활동은 크게 두 가지로 나뉩니다. 첫 번째는 직접 요리를 해보는 활동입니다. 평소에는 쉽게 사용하지 못하는 재료들을 함께 준비하고, 재료가 만들어내는 맛과 식감을 서로 설명하며 요리 과정을 공유합니다. 익숙하지 않은 조합 속에서 새로운 맛이 어떻게 완성되는지를 함께 고민하고 이야기합니다.

전공도, 삶도 다른 사람들이 맛으로 연결되다

Q. 본인 소개를 해주세요.

A. 안녕하세요. 저는 한양대학교 에너지공학과에서 박사 과정을 밟고 있는 장학생 이성규입니다. [한양 CMK]는 한양대학교에 재학 중인 장학생들이 보다 편안하게 만나 이야기할 수 있는 공간을 만들고자 시작되었습니다. 현대차 정몽구 재단에서 다양한 네트워킹 프로그램을 제공해주지만, 같은 학교 장학생들끼리 더 밀도 있게 교류하며 친해지면 좋겠다고 생각했습니다. 그 결과, 매우 의미 있고 잘 운영된 모임이 되었다고 느끼고 있으며, 내년에도 기회가 된다면 같은 형태의 모임을 다시 운영하고 싶습니다.

Hello, my name is Seong-gyu Lee, and I am a scholarship student currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Energy Engineering at Hanyang University. [The Hanyang CMK] gathering was created to provide a comfortable space where scholarship students at Hanyang University could meet and talk more freely. While the foundation operates various networking programs, I felt it would be valuable to have a gathering that allows students from the same university to connect more closely.

As a result, I believe the meeting was meaningful and well-organized, and if given the opportunity, I would like to host a similar gathering again next year.

Q. 모임 자랑을 해주세요.

A. 우리 모임의 가장 큰 목적은 장학생 간 네트워킹입니다. 총 15명의 구성원 중 한국 장학생은 2명이고, 나머지는 모두 글로벌 장학생들로 이루어져 있습니다. 국적, 전공, 배경이 매우 다양하다는 점이 가장 큰 특징입니다. 첫 모임에서는 다소 어색함도 있었습니다. 인원이 많아 예약이 가능한 대형 피자집에서 만났지만, 소음 때문에 서로의 목소리가 잘 들리지 않아 자리를 옮겨 다니며 인사를 나눴던 기억이 납니다.

이후 모임에서는 각자의 전공과 진로, 문화적 배경에 대해 이야기하고, 고민을 나누거나 주변 맛집 정보와 K-pop 같은 가벼운 주제로도 즐겁게 대화를 이어가고 있습니다.

The main purpose of our group is networking among scholarship students. There are 15 members in total, with only two Korean students and the rest being global scholarship students. What makes the group unique is the wide diversity in nationalities, academic fields, and backgrounds.

The first meeting felt somewhat awkward. Because of the large group size, we met at a big pizza restaurant, but the noise made it difficult to hear one another, so we ended up moving around and greeting people individually.

In later meetings, we talked about our majors, career paths, and cultural backgrounds, shared our concerns, and enjoyed light conversations about nearby restaurants and K-pop.

Q. 모임을 하면서 인상 깊었던 순간이 있었나요?

A. 11월에 열렸던 모임이 특히 기억에 남습니다. 연말을 맞아 많은 인원이 함께할 수 있는 장소를 찾다가 학교 근처의 파티룸을 대여해 모임을 진행했습니다. 엽떡, 치킨, 피자, 요아정 등 다양한 음식을 함께 나눠 먹으며 자연스럽게 분위기가 풀렸고, 배경음악으로 K-pop을 틀어두었습니다.

같은 학교라는 공통점이 만든 우리의 연결
