A. 안녕하세요. 저는 서울대학교 경영대학원에서 석사 과정을 밟고 있는 Nguyen Phuong Linh(응웬푸엉린)입니다. [Korea Discovery Club] 리더로 활동하고 있습니다.
CMK 클럽 & 캠퍼스의 호스트로 지원하게 된 이유는, 재단 안에 많은 외국인 학생들이 있지만 정작 ‘한국의 진짜 일상’을 경험할 기회는 많지 않다고 느꼈기 때문입니다. 한국에서 6년 동안 생활한 외국인 선배로서, 드라마 속 장면이 아닌 현실 속 한국의 모습과 경험을 나누고 싶었습니다.
Hello, my name is Nguyen Phuong Linh. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Graduate School of Business at Seoul National University, and I serve as the leader of the Korea Discovery Club.
I applied to become a host for CMK Club & Campus because, although there are many international students within the foundation, I felt there were limited opportunities to experience the real daily life in Korea. Having lived in Korea for six years, I wanted to share everyday moments and cultural experiences that go beyond what we usually see in Korean dramas, from the perspective of a foreign senior who has truly lived here.
Q. Korea Discovery Club 모임을 소개해주세요.
A. 저희는 한국의 색이 짙은 장소를 선택했지만, 조금 더 트렌디하고 MZ 세대의 시선으로 바라보는 것을 목표로 운영을 하고 있어요. 전통시장 투어, 찜질방 체험, 기념품 만들기 워크숍 등 일상의 장면을 함께 경험하며, 한국 생활이 처음인 새내기 글로벌 장학생들이 문화적 차이를 자연스럽게 이해하고 빠르게 적응할 수 있도록 돕고 있죠.
We select places that reflect strong elements of Korean culture, but we approach them in a more trendy way, from the perspective of the MZ generation. Through everyday experiences such as visiting traditional markets, enjoying sauna sessions, and participating in souvenir-making workshops, we help new global scholarship students who are unfamiliar with life in Korea naturally understand cultural differences and adapt more quickly.
Q. 가장 기억에 남는 활동 순간은 언제 였어요?
A. 가장 기억에 남는 순간은 남산타워와 찜질방을 함께 방문했던 날입니다. 처음 호스트를 맡았던 터라 초반 모임에서는 어색함도 있었고, 멤버들을 하나로 모으는 것이 쉽지 않았습니다. 하지만 세 번째 모임에서 남산에서 소그룹으로 나누어 ‘베스트 사진 콘테스트’를 진행하면서 분위기가 눈에 띄게 달라졌습니다.
이후 이어진 찜질방 체험에서는 간단한 게임을 하고 이야기를 나누며 자연스럽게 마음이 풀렸습니다. 저녁 식사를 할 즈음에는 국적과 언어, 문화의 장벽이 사라진 것처럼 모두가 웃고 이야기하는 시간이 되었고, 집에 갈 시간도 잊을 만큼 몰입한 순간으로 남았습니다.
The most memorable moment was the day we visited Namsan Tower and the sauna together. Since it was my first time hosting, there was some awkwardness during the initial meetings, and bringing everyone together did not come easily.
However, at our third gathering, the atmosphere changed noticeably. We split into small groups at Namsan and held a “Best Photo Contest,” which sparked great enthusiasm among the members. During the sauna experience that followed, we naturally relaxed by playing simple games and chatting with one another.
By the time we sat down for dinner, it felt as though the barriers of nationality, language, and culture had completely disappeared. Everyone was laughing and talking freely, so immersed in the moment that we even forgot it was time to go home.
Q. 다른 분들에게 모임을 추천해주세요.
A. 익숙해 보이는 풍경 속에서 새로운 매력을 발견하고 싶은 분들께 이 모임을 추천하고 싶어요. 드라마 속 장소를 직접 걸어보고, 한국 음식을 함께 즐기며 학업의 스트레스를 잠시 벗어날 수 있거든요.
무엇보다 이 클럽의 가장 큰 매력은 다양한 국적의 국제학생들이 함께 모여 서로의 문화와 차이를 자연스럽게 나눈다는 점입니다. 한국을 배우는 동시에, 세계와 연결되는 경험을 할 수 있는 모임이라고 자부해요.
I would recommend this meeting to anyone who wants to discover new charm in places that may seem familiar at first glance. By walking through locations featured in Korean dramas and enjoying Korean food together, participants can take a break from the stress of studying and simply enjoy the moment.
Most importantly, the greatest appeal of this club is that international students from diverse nationalities come together and naturally share their cultures and differences. We take pride in being a community where you can learn about Korea while also experiencing meaningful connections with the world.
